Leopard Creek Country Club

Leopard Creek is the course that gives the South Africa golf safari its sharpest definition. Set on the Crocodile River at the southern edge of Kruger National Park, the club is private, secluded, and theatrically aware of its setting: game can appear across the water, the bushveld changes colour through the day, and the round feels less like resort golf than entry into a protected Lowveld world.

The routing is a Gary Player and Phil Jacobs design, with conditioning exacting enough for the course to host the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The par-5 13th is the postcard, playing toward a green that seems to hang above river and wilderness. Smaller moments stay with you too: the heat shimmer on low fairways, the silence before a distant bird call, the precision of a green complex that refuses to let the landscape do all the work.
